Ms. Poole, Ms. Palmer, Mr. Bolen: Dear Mayor Michael Nutter,
Lately you have been informing people in Philadelphia about the huge affects flash mobs
have taken in our community today. Recently you have talked about having police patrol
certain neighborhoods and having volunteers monitor the streets, you also talked about
moving curfew up for minors but my question is for you do you really think this will stop
flash mobs or better yet try to? I personally don’t think it will work because teens my age
didn’t stop before so what makes you think they will stop now over something a black man
said or better yet a black mayor said. I feel this way because you’re basically telling me with
this curfew for minors flash mobs will stop but flash mobs can happen at any given time in
any area of Philadelphia. Did you ever stop to think that maybe the 50 percent of the kids
who are going out in flash mobs hurting people and putting them in the hospitals are
showing you a sign that maybe you should come up with more clubs to join, and help the
youth voice their opinions did you ever stop and think about that? NO, you didn’t stop to
think about that you just saw your 5min time to shine and ran with it you never asked kids
what they liked to do and what you can do to keep them off the streets, you just saw a gang
of African Americans kids hanging out and getting bored, looking for fun in hurting people.
No I honestly don’t agree with hurting people but maybe there ability to hurt and kill
people is there only ability to show you a sign that this negative energy can be turned to
positive energy. I know you were young once and felt like you had to do something to prove
you was the man while maybe they were in the same category just in another generation
and time. So yes I do think the curfew is worth a try and could work if Philadelphia works
as a team to keep the youth off the streets.
Sincerely,
The youth of Philadelphia

In the letter "robeson7" I like the idea about doing community service. Altogether the essay was good but it could have had a stronger ending and to rephrase a few sentences to make more sense.

I dont think that its just African american youth, but I do agree wit the curfew will upset the youth.
I think that Moniquetta's group had a well written letter. But they needed more detailed information. they also needed more to say. When they said that they didnt agree with the 9p.m. curfew, they needed other reasons to why they don't agree with it. Not just " The kids will be more upset". Other than that, they letter was good, just needed more to say and reasons why. Also, everyone needs to participate. It's hard to be in a group of people while your the only person writing the letter and other people are talking about things that doesn't have anything to do with the assignment. Typing professionally is also something the person needs to work on instead of putting "&" sings. It needs to be written out as "and". -Brianna Williams (My Group)
Briana's group did well for the most part. They knew inderstood the topic and what was going on and then worded the paper well also if i was to give them a grade it would be a B-

I dont agree that Brianna's group should have pointed out the African American's, but I do agree that the youth will be upset about the curfew.
In Letter Robeson6 I Like The Idea that You Were Agreeing And Disagreeing With The Mayor On Different Situations
Letter "robeson6" I Like The Fcat That You Stated What You Agreed And Disagreed On With The Mayor

I personally believe the letter "robeson7" was a beautifly written letter. And im sure the group memebers are all beautiful people.
I think that Kyjae's group letter was good . The stop and frisk thing is bad yes and it sholdn't be done.
@terri group i do agree that parents shouldnt have to pay the fines if there children are caught, but i do think all children everywhere should have a curfew just from preventing anything from happening.

i highly agree with the fact these teens are the new outragious problem through out philadelphia and i like the fact that you letter was straight to the poiny
In the letter robeson 6 It was a good letter and I agree that the curfews are not going to do anything so they should leave it up to the parents.
Personally I thought all the letter
great and got right to the point.
I believe that robeson 8 letter is copied and paste or maybe it has a little research in it that it sounds good, but I agree on everything that robeson had to say good job kids
I think all The letters were great but some of them ccouldve had stronger endings and better puncuation.
I feel that robeson6 wrote a pretty good letter and made their point
robeson 7 letter was my favorite it had some good ideas.
robeson 6 letter was good too. i agree with the curfew thing because curfew will defiantly not stop these mobs. some of these teens are 19 and that means the curfew wouldnt apply for them
